Ingredients
Cookies
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1 egg, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon maple extract
- 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
Maple Icing
- 1 cup confectioners’ sugar (powdered sugar), sifted
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In another large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in egg, maple extract, vanilla extract, and almond extract until combined.
- Add dry ingredients 1 cup at a time, beating on medium speed until soft dough forms.
- Roll dough on lightly floured surface to 1/4-inch thick. Cut with cookie cutters.
- Place cookies on prepared baking sheets, leaving 1 inch between each.
- Bake 8 minutes until set but edges aren’t browned. Cool on sheet 5-10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.
- For icing: Whisk sifted powdered sugar and maple syrup until smooth and tan-colored.
- Spread icing on cooled cookies with small spatula. Let set completely before serving.
