Sesame Chicken

Fried chicken

  • 1 1/2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 pinch salt

  • 1 tsp pepper

  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup cornstarch

  • 4 cups oil for frying

Sauce

  • 1 tsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp sliced green onions

  • Beat eggs with salt and pepper in a bowl.
  • Mix flour and 1/2 cup cornstarch in a bowl.
  • Dip each piece of chicken into the eggs and then into the flour.
  • Heat 3 inches of oil in a pan to 350 degrees farenheit.
  • Add chicken to pan several pieces at a time and cook for 5 minutes, or until crispy.
  • Drain chicken on paper towels.
  • While chicken is cooking, prepare sauce.
  • Combine honey, soy sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and 2 tsps of cornstarch in a bowl.
  • Heat 1 tsp of vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat, and add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  • Add honey mixture and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until thickened.
  • Combine fried chicken, sauce, sesame seeds, and green onions and serve.
